Something new is taking shape in Tijeras

Timber & Stone is the transformation of ten mountain acres bordering the National Forest, home to an old stone barn, tall pines and the site of a new cabin designed for rest, exploration and time outdoors.

We’re documenting the journey from the beginning, preserving what we can from the past while creating a new retreat that belongs in this place.

The Land

Ten acres against the National Forest.

Ten acres of meadow, forest and mountain terrain set the stage for Timber & Stone. Here, the goal isn’t to remake the landscape, but to work with what’s already here, preserving its character while creating a place to experience it.

The Barn

Long before Timber & Stone, an old stone barn stood on this land

This land held a working homestead. With walls hand-laid over a century ago, the barn still stands at the edge of the property, a testament to the people and the craft that shaped this place.

Weather and time have taken their toll, but the stone walls and heavy timbers remain part of the property’s story. As the retreat takes shape, we’re looking for ways to preserve what can be saved and carry some of that history forward.

The Cabin

The new cabin is being designed for the way we hope this place will be experienced.

Comfortable, uncomplicated and connected to the outdoors.

With two bedrooms, a loft and generous outdoor living space, it will be a home base for quiet weekends, family getaways and days spent exploring the forest and mountains.

Where possible, materials salvaged from the old barn will find new purpose here, carrying a piece of the property’s past into what comes next.
